Mister Mittens' Big Adventure
I'm still working in the same place, but things just got a bit crazier. Family emergency with my bosses (brother and sister), so they are BOTH out of town, and everyone (all 5 of us?) are pulling some crazy shifts to keep going. It's kinda fun, helps me get hours, which of course have been reduced due to the state of the country. But it's also hard, because I just did a closing at midnight, get home at 1am then come in the next day at 9am. Whee :) I just survived it, so it's okay!
I still don't have a car, but I'm getting myself super hyped up about it (er, getting a car), which might be a mistake. Still, I'm dreaming big right now; big and girly!
Still working on my debt. That's going to be a long road, but I knew that. It's going well. I'm also saving for retirement. Whee?
I'm feeling older (every day?). Kevin met me at the bus stop today to walk home with me, and I asked him what he wanted to do.. and he said, "I'm kind of tired... Want to take a nap?" This is what happens when you grow old together! Needless to say, it was a wonderful nap.
I read a million books since I last posted. .... Kitty books are good, Carrie Vaughn. Paranormal (romance? a little) / werewolves. The Hero and the Crown, Robin McKinley. Super hot. I love her to pieces. One of my all time favorite authors. I did prefer The Blue Sword (the first Damar book) more.... Maybe because I read it first? I'm sure Anne will prefer The Hero and the Crown :D. Magic Study and Fire Study, 2nd and 3rd book (following Poison Study), .... uhm... Maria Snyder? They are pretty good, but because I read Magic and then Fire in quick secession, it felt a bit boring. But then, maybe that's a sign that the books aren't THAT great.. I felt like she was riding between the Mage Keep and the plains, ... for 600 pages... two books. -headdesk- But it was worth it in the end, and it's OVER! Now I'm reading... uh. Geez. Blood (runs off) Price by Tanya Huff. I'm on page 30. It's okay so far. I've never been a big Tanya Huff fan. But these were turned into a tv series ["...her Blood Books series, featuring detective Vicki Nelson, was adapted for television under the title Blood Ties."] Sure okie. I'll try it. I think I read some more in between all those, but obviously they weren't important.
I'm getting so excited about Jacqueline Carey new books. There are TWO coming. Wow. One about werewolves (WTF, she's reading my mind!!), and another in the Kushiel universe. ... I'm going to die of happiness.
And, finally, what does my title mean! This:
MewMew!
Much love, and I'll seriously consider what to post about next. I'm not blogging to change the world, just to let Anne know what I'm doing.

Damn Debt
Well, damn. Kevin just convinced me to work on paying off my credit card(s) before getting a car, and he's right. If I used my money to get a car instead of paying off my credit cards, I'd still be paying interest too the bank while I was driving around. Muh. It makes sense, and I'm going to do it, but now I'm feeling depressed. I'm already so sick of the bus :(

I Didn't Forget!
Really, I am back to finish! Hah! I just ... got lazy, and knew my post wasn't about much? Hum.. anyways...
Iron Kissed was really good. It reminds me a lot of how Anita Blake started out... fresh and new, happy, wonderful world.. etc. It's also nice that the main character isn't perfect, nor super strong.. she really gets herself into trouble and then ASKS OTHER PEOPLE to help her get out. WOAH! Good stuff. At first, I wasn't thrilled with the fae (faeries) being include in her world, but she pulls it off well, after a while. At least they aren't sex-crazed outcasts like Hamilton's faeries. They are truly scary, powerful, secretive, and ... scared. It's great!
While I was slacking off from updating my post, I also read Chalice, which is another Robin McKinley book. I know I was planning on taking a break from her, but I couldn't find anything at my library (I should have requested some books ahead of time, but alas). I really did enjoy it, but I also felt that it was too short... and it lacked the final conclusion that makes you go, WOW. ... The world is wonderful. I would love to read more about the world she created. I also felt the book went too fast (though, it is in the Young Adult section, and length, unfortunately, (or rather, lack of length) is a criteria in children's book because, I assume, they don't have the attention span to consume a long novel, or, it would be too daunting for them to start. Either, both, neither..) (That wasn't confusing, no.) Anyways, if you like McKinley, I'd read it. It's certainly not written at the level of children. I love her vocabulary, and she does NOT stoop to using the simplest words. Good for her! Make those kids use dictionaries! (Make me use a dictionary, rofl!)
Oddly, my blog seems to be my new "GoodReads". I got sick of that.. I'm not sure why.. Anyways, this is way more fun because I can talk about other stuff! ... if I want to.
Oh, okie, so now I'm reading my co-worker and good friend's NaNoWriMo (www.nanowrimo.org), and semi-editing it. The idea behind NaNo, in short, is to write a novel as fast as you can. You can imagine this will produce.. a bunch of crap. Which it does. But I am so surprised and pleased with her story... Really, she doubted herself, and her story, so much, that I thought there wouldn't be any hope at all.. I brought a (real) book, just in case it was so awful, I couldn't even stand it.. but there were twists and turns, great phrases, surprises, and things that made me sniffle. True, there are lots of grammar issues (time was an issue at the time as well, so I can't expect her stop and consider that crap), but wow. I'm pleased. It's chicklit, which is good, and bad, but.. I just am so amazed.. I should shut up about it because she might just read my blog and yell at me..
So, now I'm inspired to continue / restart my NaNo. I bombed mine in 2008. I successfully wrote 4,995 words, and then I pooped out (fyi, the goal is 50,000 words). Go me. So I'm really gunna.. do it. Really. Though, I did fail in 2007 as well. ... I think I got 15,000 that year.. Go me, again. Well, whatever. This time.. ya, I'm gunna stop, because if I fail, I'll want to bury myself for a while.
So, over all, life is good. Still no car, but tax returns are coming around (eventually), and something about a stimulus is being talked about... not that I'm listening too hard. Coffee and chocolate, that's all I think about. Oh, and books. And video games. And my loves (Kevin, friends, my pets...). And food (mm). I'm pretty simple.
Anyways, love to all, and just so you know, all is well, and will be well.
BTW, wtf at the final Cylon.

Fluff and Iron Kissed
My blog is pretty fluffy, really.. because my life is pretty fluffy. I'm not complaining, actually, I'm pretty happy that nothing so exciting is going on! Anyways, my news right now is that.. I got my DS flashcard, MWAH! So, tonight I'm going to pick up all my nice flowers in Animal Crossing because I probably won't want to take care of them for a while... I can't wait to play Chrono Trigger (again, again.. again), but this time on the DS!
I also finished Iron Kissed today (Patricia Briggs, paranormal romance / horror (... not really, but the library puts it there), and I'm super impressed. It's the third book in the series (start with Moon Called), and it made me cry.. Aw. That's a good thing. It feels like re - I'll finish this later. Gotta go.

Am I Whining? I think I am...

Well, I got my new phone, and I'm a lil happy with it, a lil unhappy with it...
The camera seems better than the Sony Ericsson's...
The menus are not as friendly.
It's black, which is nice, and has a very slim clamshell, which makes it more attractive over all.
It's also very slippery, so I'm afraid I'm going to drop it. I don't have a phone strap / charm, so I put my DS' strap on the phone, hoping that will help me NOT DROP IT. I don't want another replacement phone, thank you.
The ringtones suck, of course, because they want me to buy better ones. But I refuse. So if you hear some awful phone ringing, it's probably mine.
The background images are REALLY bad... a boat (wtf), a bridge (which might be cool, but it's not), some grass (reminds me of Windows XP, cept it has some big thing in the middle, and I have no clue what it is.. a copse?), water (.... some generic water WITH THE ATT SYMBOL above it...)... Fortunately, I took a picture of my pirate rubber duck.
Well, whatever. It works!!

More Info and Spindle's End
Okay, so, this is my old phone:
Sony Ericsson Z525a
This is my new phone, which will be here on the 15th (yay):
LG CE110
I also just finished Spindle's End by Robin McKinley. Very good. I think it might be my favorite, well, except Sunshine.. but I think it might be one of my favorite fairytale ones. The best part is that she mentions stuff about Deerskin :P The queen in Spindle's End is from a small country that raises fleethounds.. it's great. Animals play a big part in Spindle's End too.. it's good.
Well, now it's time for me to take care of my Animal Crossing Wild World town, before the stores close.

Ugh
So, my phone died. This is my second phone to die on me. I didn't drop it, I didn't get it wet. It just died. But now I have my old phone (rather, my replacement from my first phone that died) while I wait for ATT to send me a new phone. At least I have my old phone. So, I'm pretty good!

Beauty and my ROMs
Well, I finished Beauty today. I blasted through it, and enjoyed every moment of it. It was written in a much more straight forward manner, but also suitable for children, unlike Deerskin. Tangent, a bit, but what makes me a lil upset about Deerskin is that it was obvious that she was pregnant, at once point, and then the baby just disappeared. Muh. Stupid magical magic. Beauty was good. Classic Beauty and the Beast story, I can assume, but I love the life and background she put into Beauty. It made it fantastic. Now I'm going to read Spindle's End (Robin McKinley, Sleeping Beauty retelling), and that's the end of my Robin McKinley run for a while.
Ah, ROMs. I'm so excited. I did my spell of following by the rules. I bought a lot of DS games, actually.. Let me count.. at least nine. Eleven, actually, because Kevin got two as well. Anyways, now I'm getting a DS flash cart thing (Supercard, best name ever, right?) and it's coming from Hong Kong, zomg. Fortunately, my boss said I could have it shipped to the store, yay, so I don't have to worry about someone stealing it while I'm not at home. It will be here.. eventually.. Until then, I'm DLing all the ROMs I could possibly think I want :x So excited. Yes, I have nothing else to do, but fret over ROMs :D
Oh, small side note, Faydra is doing well. Hopefully I'll have some pictures.. someday. I have a lot on my phone, but not sure how to get them OFF my phone and online for you guys. That's okay though. She's a happy cat, still.

What am I doing right now?
Well, fortunately, today is my day off, so I'm sitting around, playing on Subeta. But in general, it's pretty much the same stuff.
I cleaned out Al (the car) yesterday, and now he's ready to be taken by Opportunity Village. I'll have to get on my dad about that.. He wanted to take some tires out of the back or something. Muh.
I finished Deerskin, probably 4 or some days ago. It was good, but sometimes Robin McKinley gets soo frantic and jumps around so much.. but I still love her. The dogs, of course, were awesome. I'm happy and unhappy about the ending, but that's okay. I also finished Heir to Sevenwaters, the new Juliet Marillier book. It was good, but not as good at the other Severwaters books. This one didn't make me cry, which is kind of a running theme with Marillier's books. They usually make me cry, at least the first time through. Oh well. I still enjoyed it. Now I'm reading Beauty, by McKinley. I checked out a lot of her books from the library, so I need to get crackin!
Since I have no car, I'll probably round Kevin up soon and we'll walk to the grocery store to get a few things. He wants to get more soda for the house (because he does drink quite a bit of it..) and I want something snacky, plus it would be nice to have some food to take to work for lunch. I mean, shit, eating a bagel for lunch everyday gets old, fast.
So, pretty much, same ol stuff is going on here, but I'm doing alright.
Oh, depressing thought.. I have people that come by the chocolate store, and they remember me (and sometimes I remember them). Anyways, this couple came in, and they hadn't been by in maybe 7 or 8 months.. so they were excited to see me, but also, the first thing they asked was, how's school going? I didn't say, oh ya, well, I dropped out. Heh. But then they said that husband was going back to school, Harvard, etc.. and the wife was going to school online, UCLA. Meh. Whatever. So what if I work at a chocolate shop? I mean, I'm surviving, and someone has to do it.. but then, why should it be me?

Welcome to 2009!
It's a whole new world out there, being 2009! What do people do at the beginning of the year.. hum.. hum.. what is it..
Oh ya, new year's Resolutions. Well, I guess I should try some... though I think I've already busted them all.
1) Stop biting my nails
2) Get a better job
3) Exercise more
4) Save money
5) Sleep more regularly
And, that's enough of that... Let's see..
1) I already chewed my nails up, and I enjoy it too much to want to stop.. to stop, you have to want to, and I don't think I'm ready...
2) The economy (everyone's favorite topic now) sucks, so why should I quit my job? My boss(es) love me, and all I do it read or play my DS at work, between trying to sell $75 a pound chocolate and making espresso drinks.. easy!
3) Ok, I really should do this one. I did jog a half mile today. Yay me! But that's it. Now I'm sitting on my ass, blogging.
4) What money? Er, yes, I should save money. I will start this one :) Promise! Right after I get myself a DS flash cart.
5) ... Who has time to sleep?!

In the Beginning...

Once upon a time, I had a car! I named this car Albie (after wonderful Albert Stroller, from Hustle), because he was a bit old, but knew all the tricks of the trade. Kevin, my boyfriend -whom I don't really blame for this, it's just part of the adventure-, borrowed my car to visit his friend, but parked in a red area. In short (maybe blogs aren't my style, I'm already getting tired of telling this story), the car was towed, and the tow company damaged my car.. while towing it. So, the oil pan started leaking, and while we were driving the car home, the engine seized, etc.
So, months later, New Years Eve, I'm trying to drive home.. and the transmission is having so much trouble, I can't get going faster than 30 miles an hour... Fortunately, I am able to get ALMOST HOME, not even a half mile away, before the car dies.. and my dad has to come get me, and tow me home with his truck.
Anyways, that was a pretty lame attempt at my first adventure, but I've told the story so many times, it's old hat. The next one will be better... really.
The New Adventures of Chocolate Sara
Welcome to my world, which is pretty quiet and boring, yet I'm going to try to make a blog! YAY! This being the first post, I guess there's a lot to say. I was born in a small town, in the mountains... just kidding.
The most recent, exciting event that happened in my life happened... well, I guess I should start at the beginning.
